Resources & Inspirations

This selection of resources brings together approaches, research, and readings that nurture understanding of the body, movement, breathing, and nervous system regulation. They have helped to inspire and enrich thinking about the CORE Method.

Body, posture, and muscle chains

The Mezieres Method is a holistic approach to the body that considers muscle chains and postural compensations in order to restore balance and freedom of movement.

This lecture based on the book Anatomy Trains highlights the continuity of myofascial chains and the interconnection between posture, movement, and bodily tension.

Somatic therapy is a body-centered therapeutic approach that explores how emotional experiences and stress can be embedded in bodily sensations. It uses body awareness, breathing, and movement to support nervous system regulation and promote the release of tension related to stress or trauma.

Breathing and nervous system regulation

The Wim Hof Method explores the power of conscious breathing to influence the nervous system, improve stress management, and strengthen the mind-body connection.

Polyvagal Theory – Regulation of the Nervous System

The polyvagal theory, developed by neuroscientist Stephen Porges, explains how the autonomic nervous system influences our perception of safety, our emotions, and our reactions to stress. It highlights the central role of the vagus nerve in regulating physiological states, breathing, social connection, and calmness.

Binaural beats and brain waves
  • Theta (4-8 Hz) : deep relaxation, creativity, meditation
  • Alpha (8-13 Hz) : calm, relaxation, state of rest
  • Beta (13-30 Hz) : concentration, mental activity, and problem solving
Some studies suggest that these frequencies may support stress management, concentration, and sleep quality.
Movement, mobility, and body awareness

An approach focused on assisted stretching and mobility to improve flexibility, muscle recovery, and body awareness.

A resource presenting the benefits of yoga on mobility, breathing, posture, and balance between body and mind.

Fascia: an essential sensory organ

This resource presents fascia as an essential tissue in the human body involved in posture, movement, and body perception. Recent research shows that fascia also plays an important sensory role, participating in proprioception and communication between different structures of the body.

An international organization dedicated to scientific research on fascia, exploring its role in biomechanics, body perception, and overall health.

Inspiring reads

A book that explores the links between emotions, inner experiences, and physical manifestations, inviting readers to better understand the messages of the body.

“Help yourself, and your body will help you.”
Isabelle Filliozat

A book that highlights the importance of touch and presence in calming and regulating the body.

“The healing power of hands”
Barbara-Ann Brennan

A book about mindfulness and the ability to return to the present moment to calm the mind and reconnect with the body.

“The power of the present moment”
Eckhart Tolle

A reference work on the links between trauma, bodily memory, and the nervous system. It highlights how emotional experiences are inscribed in the body and how certain bodily approaches can support the processes of regulation and healing.

“The body never forgets.”
Bessel van der Kolk

An accessible book that explores the essential role of fascia in the body's organization, posture, movement, and the transmission of forces. It highlights the importance of this tissue in understanding the body as a whole.

"Fascia: The connective tissue that connects everything"
David Lesondak

This seminal book explains how stressful or traumatic experiences can become embedded in the nervous system and how the body has a natural capacity for regulation and release.

« Waking the Tiger : Healing Trauma »
Peter A. Levine

A fascinating book that explores the impact of breathing on health, the nervous system, sleep, and overall body balance, based on extensive scientific research.
